It is now officially 2016! Last year was one of incredible growth creatively for me, and I plan on continuing that trend into this new year. One area I will be focusing on, is black and white images. The idea of not having color to rely on for interest is intriguing... Lines, shapes, light, shadows... These will be the foundations of this year ahead. And monthly challenges. Not sure what they will be yet, but seems like a good way to keep on growing!]]>

Feeling somewhat contemplative today... Not that that is unusual for me, but today was day one of the Be Still 52 photography class and the focus was on finding breathing space each day. This photo from the Steinbach Mennonite Heritage Museum seemed the perfect spot for a moment of reflection...

In 12 hours, 2013 will be in the past. This has been a year of great adventures, the forging of amazing friendships, and new personal insights. I am very much looking forward to what the new year has to offer - keeping in mind that life is what we make it. It's going to be another good year!

The Transylvania trip was amazing! Delightful to be in a place where so much attention has been paid to the details... the architecture was incredible!]]>
This shot needs some editing, but it was such a good start to the trip I had to put it in! This was at the restaurant tonight (caru' cu bere - "something with beer".... we never did find out) and it was amazing, both the food and the building. Wow.
However, it took me about an hour to get this one post done, so this may be it for the next 10 days.... And then we all get to re-live the trip again!

The Steinbach Mennonite Heritage Village had it's annual Fall on the Farm last weekend, so once again I packed up the camera and headed out there. What a great visit! It seems that one can go to that event on a yearly basis and still find new and interesting things to photograph. I'm a fan. The 2014 date is already booked in my calendar.

Two weeks to Kenya! I've been doing some hunting here at home, trying to get the perfect animal action shot.... This one might not be perfect, but it sure was fun! My tiny lioness!]]>
Is there anything in the world more adorable than a kitten? I think not.
So thank you, my friends, for making this evening so memorable.
I have been shamefully neglectful of this little blog over the last few months, but it hasn't been a bust. Twelve months ago I challenged myself to add more creativity into my life on a regular, daily basis. That challenge has proved to be both exhausting at times as well as inspirational, and I'm glad I stuck with it! I've been reminded that everyday is beautiful, and special, and awe inspiring - you just have to look for it. That's a lesson I will carry with me into the year to come.
So 2012.... I might not be adding a photo for every day of the next year, but I want this habit to continue. So stay tuned!

Wandering through the Elmwood Cemetery late at night, 40 odd souls braved the cold and the spirits as they searched for signs of life after life.... "Watch for orbs", they were advised, "as these are the energy of those who have passed on".... The trick is sifting through the illuminated dust mites, wayward camera flashes and other natural phenomenon to find the the ghostly exhibitionists.... Did the 40 find what they were seeking? No one knows for sure, but in this shot that little orb looks promising... The rest of the image is clearly out of focus, double exposed and in motion, except for this little fellow. ... interesting...
